Introduction
We have created this veg-loaded pizza for One Planet Plate, building on our traditional Italian-style pizzas, and featuring a plant-inspired topping which is as good for the environment as it is for your health! Cauliflower is a superbly flexible vegetable that is high in fibre, packed with nutrients and has deservedly become one of the most popular veggies out there. We recommend you go one step further and pick up an organic cauliflower from a local farm for a pizza slice that packs a truly sustainable punch!
Method
Step 1: Prepare the spicy cauliflower
- Thoroughly toss cauliflower with olive oil, salt and black pepper
- Bake in a pre-heated 200c oven for 10-15 minutes or until cauliflower turns golden brown.
- Toss in a mixing bowl together with the Buffalo hot sauce. Leave aside.
Step 2: Prepare the pizza dough (makes 2 pieces)
- Place all ingredients in a mixing bowl and combine well.
- Knead the batter for 8-10 minutes and it will become elastic.
- Shape into a ball and cover with a damp cloth.
- Let it prove for an hour at room temperature.
- After proving, divide the dough into 2 equal portions.
- Shape the dough into a disc form and stretch into a 13” circle
Step 3: Make the Picante Cauliflower Pizza
- Preheat the oven to 200c
- Prepare a pizza base (roughly 13 inches)
- Mix the passata sauce and Buffalo hot sauce together. Spread evenly on the pizza base
- Top with spicy cauliflower, red onion and green beans
- Sprinkle with grated mozzarella, drizzle with garlic oil, season with black pepper and dried oregano
- Bake in the oven at 200c for 10-15 minutes, or until the pizza turns golden brown
- Finish with chopped parsley
